Jess Ease's Story: A Call to Action

1

Family Court Injustice
Trying to escape abuse, Jess sought permission to move closer to her land inheritance to start a self-sufficient life. The court denied her request, forcing her and her children to remain in proximity to their abuser, who used the legal system to continue his control.

2

CPS Overreach
Upon returning to the U.S. from Tanzania, where she had her newborn, all six of her children were wrongfully taken by CPS, despite no evidence of abuse or neglect. Her six-week-old baby was detained for three months by government-funded agencies, while her other children were sent to live with their abuser, who alienated them from their mother.

3

Denied Assistance
When Jess was finally reunited with her newborn, the Rhode Island Department of Health and Human Services denied her food, shelter, and financial assistance because of her baby's "non-citizen status." This, despite the same government agencies spending thousands to detain her child.
Jess's story is not unique. Thousands of families face similar violations, trapped in a cycle of systemic neglect and exploitation.
The Root of the Problem: Commodifying Basic Human Rights
The HumanitEase Movement is rooted in the belief that food, water, and shelter are fundamental human rights, not commodities. From the womb to the world, the earth naturally provides these essentials. However, systems built on greed and control have:
1
Turned basic necessities into privileges.
2
Displaced families from self-sufficient lives.
3
Perpetuated dependency on government programs that often harm rather than help.
Broken Systems and Misallocated Resources
$30B
CPS Spending
Annual spending on foster care systems that often fail children
$1T+
Public Assistance
Annual spending on welfare, yet millions remain in poverty
$4.1T
Healthcare Costs
Annual spending, much on preventable diseases
America spends trillions of dollars annually on systems that fail to address the root causes of family and societal breakdowns. Instead of empowering families to live self-sufficiently, these resources perpetuate cycles of dependency, poverty, and separation.
Wasting the People’s Money: Statistics Speak
Foster Care Outcomes:
  • 2x more likely to develop PTSD
  • 50% more likely to experience homelessness.
  • 30% less likely to graduate high school
  • Studies have shown many cases of abuse, particularly sexual abuse go unreported contributing to the perception that abuse is more prevalent than official statistics suggest.
Impact of Early Childhood Separation from Mothers:
  • 40% increased risk of anxiety and depression.
  • 40% more likely to develop behavioral disorders.30% increased risk of criminal behavior.
  • 50% struggle with forming secure relationships later in life.
Public Health Implications:
  • Obesity has tripled since 1975
  • $173 billion annual healthcare costs for obesity-related conditions
  • 25% less likely to develop chronic diseases with access to homegrown food
These figures highlight the urgent need to protect the mother-child bond to ensure children’s emotional, cognitive, and physical well being so that they can grow to be healthy, self sufficient, members of society.
Historical Perspective: When America Thrived
There was a time in America—before industrialization and overreliance on government systems—when families and communities thrived independently.
What Thriving Communities Had:
Self-Sufficiency
Families lived off the land, creating generational wealth and self-sustaining lifestyles.
Community Support
Communities supported one another, fostering safety and collaboration.
Nature Connection
Children played in nature, fostering creativity, resilience, and a deep connection to the earth.
Health
Preventable diseases and conditions like obesity were rare, thanks to natural diets and active lifestyles.
The Shift: Industrialization brought promises of better jobs, but it severed ties to self-sufficiency. Today, with modern technology, self-sustainable living is easier than ever. Communities can collaborate to thrive, without reliance on disconnected government agencies.
